Bharat Bansal, a law graduate from CCS University and a commerce graduate from Delhi University, co-founded Nirmalaya, an organic wellness company, in 2020. The company is working towards the formula of “Waste to Wellness,” creating an ecosystem where flowers are recycled to make wellness products starting from incense. Nirmalaya is taking a proactive approach towards reducing waste and creating sustainable products. The journey of Nirmalaya began with the founders noticing the flowers offered at the Shirdi temple in Maharashtra being recycled into incense. After researching how flowers and other waste from temple offerings can be recycled, they founded Nirmalaya and replicated the same model in Delhi. Today, the company’s factory spans around 3000 yards in Dham Complex, Delhi, and they have developed their own recycling process, with patents from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Nirmalaya’s mission is to rid our country of religious waste and chemical-laden products. Their women workforce handpick flowers and use time-tested methods to craft incense that’s good for people and the earth. The company sells a range of products, including essential oils, havan cups, attar perfumes, incense sticks, aroma diffusers, and more. Following their “waste to wellness” principle, Nirmalaya has developed the havan cups from cow dung, providing an eco-friendly alternative to conventional cups. It’s important to raise awareness about the health hazards associated with the use of chemical-laden products and encourage the use of natural and sustainable alternatives.
