Hyderabad-based aerospace and defence manufacturer Sigma Advanced Systems has raised around Rs 460 crore through a preferential allotment to support its growth strategy, including strategic acquisitions and investments. The latest fundraising comes as the company expands its international presence, strengthens its manufacturing capabilities and builds a growing aerospace and defence order book.
Chennai-based Spark Capital led the fundraising, placing around Rs 360 crore of the issue with 23 family offices and ultra-high-net-worth individuals through its equity capital markets platform, Midas Transactions.
Sigma plans to use up to 75% of the proceeds, or approximately Rs 345 crore, for inorganic growth opportunities, including strategic acquisitions and investments. The remaining funds will be used for general corporate purposes.
The fundraising comes at a time when Sigma is increasing its international footprint. The company recently acquired 100% of UK-based aerospace engineering company Bromford Precision Solutions for £11.89 million, equivalent to approximately Rs 153 crore.
The acquisition follows Sigma’s earlier acquisition of Nasmyth Group and further strengthens its capabilities in aerospace manufacturing and precision engineering. Through these acquisitions, Sigma is building a larger international manufacturing and engineering network.
Sigma has also entered into a seven-year agreement with Rolls-Royce worth nearly £300 million, or around Rs 3,800 crore, to supply high-precision aerospace components and assemblies.
The company has additionally received multiple export orders from North America, supporting its strategy to expand beyond the Indian market.
Sigma CEO Sunil Kalidindi said the company is investing in capabilities, international expansion and technologies to meet the evolving requirements of global aerospace and defence customers.
Sigma Advanced Systems designs and manufactures precision-engineered platforms, subsystems and mission-critical solutions for defence and aerospace applications.
Its portfolio spans several strategic areas, including counter-unmanned aerial systems, unmanned aerial systems, missile systems, radar and electronic warfare, avionics and naval systems.
The company’s aerospace manufacturing operations are built to AS9100D standards, reflecting its focus on quality and compliance for aerospace applications. Sigma operates manufacturing facilities across India and the UK.
Spark Capital said the fundraising reflects growing confidence among private investors in India’s defence and aerospace sector. The country’s focus on defence indigenisation and increasing demand for locally developed technologies are creating opportunities for manufacturers such as Sigma.
Vaibhav Arren, executive director and business head of Midas Transactions at Spark Capital, highlighted Sigma’s execution record, technological capabilities and expanding order book as key factors behind investor interest.
With fresh capital and an expanding international business, Sigma Advanced Systems is positioned to pursue further acquisitions, strengthen its technology portfolio and increase its presence in global aerospace and defence supply chains.
The Rs 460 crore fundraising provides the company with additional financial capacity to pursue its long-term growth strategy while benefiting from India’s increasing focus on defence manufacturing and indigenisation.
