Auric Mills Brings Bihar’s Traditional Sattu to India’s First Automated Vending Machine

A traditional Indian drink is getting a modern makeover as Jaipur-based D2C wellness brand Auric Mills introduces an automated vending machine dedicated to sattu. The company is bringing Bihar’s popular roasted-gram beverage into a convenient, ready-to-serve format, combining traditional nutrition with modern vending technology.

The machine was unveiled in Patna on September 24, 2026, by Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, marking the beginning of an initiative to take sattu beyond its traditional markets. Auric Mills describes it as India’s first dedicated sattu drink vending machine, designed to make the beverage more accessible in workplaces and other high-footfall locations.

Bringing Bihar’s Traditional Drink Into Modern Vending

Sattu has been a part of Bihar’s food culture for generations. Made primarily from roasted gram, it is commonly consumed as a refreshing drink and is valued for its protein and fibre content.

However, despite its popularity in eastern India, sattu has not achieved the same nationwide visibility as packaged juices, soft drinks and other ready-to-consume beverages.

Auric Mills is attempting to change that through an automated system that prepares sattu drinks using ready-to-serve premixes. Instead of manually mixing the ingredients, consumers can use the vending machine to access a prepared beverage quickly and conveniently.

The initiative combines a familiar traditional drink with the self-service experience commonly associated with tea, coffee and other vending-machine beverages.

Three Flavours With a Modern Twist

The Auric Mills vending machine offers sattu drinks in three flavours: chatpata, teekha and sweet, with almonds included in the formulations.

The different options are intended to appeal to consumers with varying taste preferences while retaining sattu as the central ingredient.

The machine uses premixed preparations to provide a more standardised serving experience. This format could make the beverage suitable for locations such as corporate offices, educational institutions, commercial spaces and public facilities, where convenience and quick service are important.

Auric Mills is positioning the product as a nutritious alternative to conventional packaged refreshments, while introducing consumers to a traditional Indian beverage in a different format.

From Jaipur to Bihar’s Food Innovation Story

Auric Mills is a Jaipur-based direct-to-consumer wellness food and beverage brand operating under Pavangati Agro. The company focuses on combining traditional food practices with modern nutrition and product innovation.

Its portfolio includes speciality flours, multigrain products and nutrition-focused food offerings. The sattu vending machine represents an expansion of this approach, taking a traditional ingredient beyond packaged products and into automated beverage delivery.

Choosing Patna for the initial launch also connects the product directly with Bihar, the state closely associated with sattu’s culinary heritage.

Taking Sattu Beyond Its Traditional Market

Following the Patna launch, Auric Mills plans to expand its vending machines to other parts of India in phases. The company aims to introduce sattu to consumers who may be less familiar with the traditional beverage while creating new opportunities for its distribution.

The initiative also reflects a wider shift in India’s food and beverage industry, where brands are exploring ways to modernise regional ingredients through convenient formats and technology.

By turning sattu into an automated, ready-to-serve product, Auric Mills is attempting to give a traditional drink a place in modern consumption habits.

The bigger opportunity lies in making regional Indian foods more accessible across the country without losing their cultural identity. Auric Mills’ vending machine is an example of how traditional nutrition and modern technology can come together to create new consumer experiences.
