From Dubai Corporate Life to India’s Cloud Kitchen Boom: How Geetika Anand Gupta Built MOPP Foods

From Corporate Career to Entrepreneurial Dream

The journey of Geetika Anand Gupta is a perfect example of how passion and persistence can build a successful business. Before entering the food industry, Geetika spent years working with major companies like Blue Star, Sony Gulf, and HTC during her corporate career in Dubai.

Even while working in the corporate world, food remained her biggest passion. In 2015, she decided to move into entrepreneurship and started exploring opportunities in the food and beverage industry. From beer vending machines to restaurant investments, she spent years understanding customer behavior and learning the business before launching her own food brand.

The Idea Behind Mad Over Parathas & Pakodas

In 2019, Geetika launched Mad Over Parathas & Pakodas under the MOPP Foods umbrella. At that time, most food delivery platforms were dominated by burgers, pizzas, and Chinese cuisine. However, she identified a major gap in the market, there were very few delivery-focused brands serving authentic Indian comfort food like parathas and pakodas.

The biggest challenge was delivery quality. Traditional parathas and pakodas often became oily and soggy during transportation. Instead of ignoring the issue, MOPP Foods invested heavily in research and development to create recipes designed specifically for food delivery. Their products stayed crispy, fresh, and flavorful even after reaching customers’ homes.

This strong focus on solving a real customer problem helped the brand gain attention quickly in the cloud kitchen industry.

How COVID-19 Changed the Business

The COVID-19 pandemic became a defining moment for the company. While restaurants across India were shutting down, MOPP Foods adapted to changing customer needs. The company started delivering simple home-style meals for people recovering from illness and families working from home.

This led to the launch of Milly, a brand focused on healthy everyday meals like dal, rice, roti, and sabzi. During lockdowns, demand for hygienic and comforting food increased rapidly, and the brand grew mostly through WhatsApp orders and word-of-mouth marketing.

Instead of slowing down during the pandemic, MOPP Foods expanded operations and strengthened its position in the market.

Building a Multi-Brand Cloud Kitchen Business

Today, MOPP Foods operates several food brands across different categories, including parathas, biryani, curries, and healthy meals. The company later partnered with Cocina Food Tech to scale its cloud kitchen operations across India.

The business received nationwide recognition after appearing on Shark Tank India, where entrepreneur Amit Jain invested in the startup. The exposure helped the brand attract franchise interest from across the country.

From just a few kitchens, the company has now expanded rapidly and aims to build over 1,000 kitchens in the coming years.

Lessons From Geetika Anand Gupta’s Startup Journey

Geetika believes that successful businesses are built on passion, patience, product quality, packaging, and perseverance. Her story highlights how innovation, customer understanding, and consistency can help brands grow even during difficult times.

As India’s cloud kitchen market continues to grow, MOPP Foods is emerging as one of the promising names shaping the future of food delivery and food-tech entrepreneurship.
