New Delhi-based consumer appliance startup Mekr Technologies has raised Rs 67 crore (approximately $7 million) in a Series A funding round led by Avaana Capital. Existing investor Titan Capital Winners Fund also participated in the round, reaffirming confidence in the startup’s manufacturing-focused business model.
The fresh capital will help Mekr strengthen its production capabilities, expand exports, and accelerate innovation as demand for India-manufactured appliances continues to rise across domestic and international markets.
Founded in 2022 by Anand Yadav and Gaurang Kuchhal, Mekr operates as an original design manufacturer (ODM), providing end-to-end appliance development and manufacturing solutions for consumer brands.
The startup specializes in designing and manufacturing home and kitchen appliances, personal care products, and automotive accessories. Its services cover the entire product lifecycle, including engineering, prototyping, tooling, certification, manufacturing, and final assembly.
Mekr currently works with major brands such as Croma, Wipro, Amazon Basics, and Flipkart.
The company has developed a diversified range of products catering to multiple consumer segments. Its portfolio includes electric kettles, egg boilers, electric choppers, kitchen weighing scales, tyre inflators, vacuum cleaners, trimmers, and hair dryers.
By focusing on affordable, high-quality, and scalable manufacturing, Mekr aims to position itself as a key player in India’s rapidly growing appliance manufacturing ecosystem.
The startup believes that India’s manufacturing sector is entering a strong growth phase driven by increasing domestic consumption, rising exports, and government initiatives supporting local production under the “Make in India” vision.
Mekr plans to use the newly raised funds to strengthen its research and development capabilities, expand manufacturing automation, localize supplier networks, improve quality systems, and prepare for large-scale exports.
Currently, the company operates manufacturing facilities in Kundli, Haryana, covering approximately 50,000 square feet. According to CEO Gaurang Kuchhal, Mekr is now setting up an additional 100,000 square feet manufacturing unit to significantly boost production capacity.
Once operational, the expanded facility is expected to help the startup achieve manufacturing output of nearly one million units per month, positioning Mekr among the emerging large-scale appliance manufacturing players in India.
With increasing global interest in India-based manufacturing and supply chain diversification, Mekr aims to capitalize on the growing opportunity by building a globally competitive appliance manufacturing platform.
