Plazza Raises $15 Million Series A to Build India’s Next-Generation Quick Medicine Delivery Network

India’s quick medicine delivery sector is witnessing rapid innovation as Plazza, a Bengaluru-based pharmacy startup, has raised $15 million in a Series A funding round. The round was co-led by Accel, Elevation Capital, and Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors All In Capital and Better Capital.

The fresh capital will help Plazza expand its store network, strengthen its technology infrastructure, and build a reliable medicine delivery ecosystem across India.

Major Investors Support Plazza’s Expansion Plans

The latest funding marks a significant milestone for Plazza as it prepares for aggressive expansion in the competitive healthcare delivery market. The company plans to open around 10 new stores in Bengaluru within the next eight weeks, taking its total presence in the city to approximately 20 stores by the end of the year.

Over the next three to four years, Plazza aims to establish a network of more than 3,000 stores across India. The startup plans to first strengthen its operational capabilities and create a reliable model before scaling into multiple cities.

Within the next year, Plazza expects to expand beyond Bengaluru and enter additional markets across the country.

Solving Reliability Challenges in Medicine Delivery

Founded by Priyadarshi, a former Zomato executive, Plazza is focused on solving one of the biggest challenges in online pharmacy, ensuring reliable availability and faster delivery of medicines.

Unlike food or other quick-commerce categories, medicine delivery requires high accuracy and consistency. According to Priyadarshi, reliability needs to be built into the company’s foundation because customers cannot afford delays or errors when it comes to healthcare essentials.

The startup aims to bridge the gap between traditional neighborhood pharmacies and large online pharmacy platforms by combining extensive inventory with rapid delivery.

AI-Powered Inventory Model for Better Availability

Traditional pharmacies generally operate with limited inventory and depend heavily on walk-in customers. Many neighborhood stores stock around 5,000 medicines, which can result in lower prescription fulfillment rates.

On the other hand, larger online pharmacy platforms often focus on maintaining broad inventories but may not always provide instant delivery.

Plazza’s model combines the strengths of both approaches. Each store maintains between 35,000 and 40,000 stock keeping units (SKUs) while offering medicine delivery within 15 to 30 minutes across a wider service area.

To improve efficiency, the startup uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create store-specific inventories based on local demand patterns. Instead of following a common inventory strategy, Plazza analyzes each micro-market to determine which medicines should be stocked and in what quantities.

Building an Omnichannel Healthcare Platform

Plazza operates through an omnichannel approach, allowing customers to order medicines through its app or WhatsApp platform while using physical stores as fulfillment hubs.

The company’s stores are designed primarily for delivery operations, with significant space dedicated to inventory management rather than walk-in customers. This approach enables Plazza to optimize manpower, storage, and delivery efficiency.

With increasing demand for faster healthcare access and digital-first pharmacy solutions, Plazza is positioning itself as a technology-driven player in India’s evolving medicine delivery ecosystem.

Backed by leading investors and ambitious expansion plans, the startup aims to create a nationwide network that combines speed, reliability, and accessibility in medicine delivery.
