Mumbai-based Suminter India Organics, a company focused on organic and sustainable food ingredients, has raised ₹25 crore in debt funding from BlackSoil Capital. The fresh capital will help the company expand its sourcing capabilities and strengthen its network of smallholder farmers across India, the Philippines and Africa.
The funding will allow Suminter India Organics to source high-quality organic ingredients at a larger scale as global demand for certified and sustainably produced food continues to grow.
The company works closely with more than 100,000 smallholder farmers, helping connect agricultural communities with international markets while creating opportunities for greater economic stability.
The latest debt financing is expected to support the expansion of these sourcing operations and enable Suminter to meet growing demand from food and ingredient businesses worldwide.
Founded in 2003, Suminter India Organics operates an integrated farm-to-market platform covering several stages of the supply chain, including sourcing, certification, processing and international distribution.
Led by Sameer Mehra, the Mumbai-based company focuses on creating a reliable supply chain for certified organic and sustainably sourced ingredients.
Its product portfolio includes spices, coconut products, oilseeds, cocoa, sweeteners and natural fibres, which are supplied to businesses across the United States, Europe and other international markets.
A key part of Suminter’s business model is its focus on smallholder farming communities. By connecting farmers with global food and feed markets, the company aims to create more stable income opportunities while encouraging sustainable agricultural practices.
Suminter also promotes regenerative farming, which focuses on improving soil health, supporting biodiversity and building more resilient agricultural systems.
Through its network, the company works to ensure farmers have access to international buyers while maintaining quality and sustainability standards throughout the production process.
Suminter’s integrated platform provides traceability and quality assurance across its supply chain. This allows the company and its international customers to maintain greater visibility into the sourcing and production of organic ingredients.
As consumers and businesses increasingly demand transparency around where food ingredients come from, traceability has become an important component of the global organic food industry.
The latest financing comes as international demand for organic and sustainably sourced ingredients continues to create opportunities for supply-chain companies operating at the intersection of agriculture, sustainability and food technology.
With the ₹25 crore debt funding from BlackSoil Capital, Suminter plans to expand its sourcing operations and strengthen its relationships with farming communities across multiple geographies.
By combining farmer networks, supply-chain infrastructure and sustainability-focused practices, the company aims to play a larger role in supplying certified organic ingredients to global markets while supporting the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.
